CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS
“Milk yields and weight gain of our cattle increased notably since we included the Cottfield pelleted cottonseed cake in cattle rations. We also found pellets easy to store and handle.”

LAUNCH OF SUNFLOWER DEVELOPMENT PROJECT – PHASE II
April 14, 2015 by Cottfield Group
Phase II of Cottfield Group's Eastern Uganda Sunflower Development Project was officially launched today, April 14, 2015, at Bulangira Ginnery & Oil Mill, in Kibuku District.
The launch meeting was held by the representatives of Cottfield Group and attended by 40 lead farmers, selected one per subcounty, from the districts of Kibuku, Budaka, Pallisa, Bukedea and Kumi.
The meeting discussed procurement of planting seed, sunflower pricing and marketing, farming techniques, and organisation of extension services.

In Phase II, a conscious decision was made to concentrate on open-pollinated sunflower varieties, which, although less high-yielding and with a lower oil content than hybrids, are more readily available, cheaper and more tolerant of lack of growers' experience. Hybrid planting seed, on the other hand, will be offered on preferential terms to the farmers who consistently exhibit good farming skills and high productivity.

The Company management has called upon farmers to take advantage of the sunflower growing opportunities created by the establishment of a modern oil mill which can offer highly competitive prices for the farmers' produce.
Over 500 farmers, up from 300 in Phase I, have been registered for participation in Phase II. Planting seed is being provided on credit to the 77 farmers who attained highest yields in Phase I, and at cost price to all other participating farmers.
